FSRD Usakti Holds Artsilience: Collective Exhibition

A total of 65 2D and 3D artworks from the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Trisakti University (FSRD Usakti) were exhibited in a collaborative exhibition entitled ArtSilience. This exhibition involved 38 artists consisting of students, lecturers, and alumni of FSRD Usakti. Located at 2Madison Gallery, Jl. Bangka Raya no.20, South Jakarta, the exhibition took place from February 5-12, 2022.

At the opening of the exhibition, the Chairperson and curator of the exhibition, Dr. Elda Franzia Jasjfi, M.Ds, said that the theme raised in this exhibition was related to the theme of resilience. “We still have to survive in all conditions”. According to her, the works on display have a narrative of struggle to accept conditions in the midst of a pandemic. However, they still convey positive vibrations by continuing to work to spread kindness to everyone.

Meanwhile on the same occasion, Dr. Sangayu Ketut Laksemi Nilotama, M.Ds. as the Dean of FSRD Usakti said that the FSRD community has been able to always be productive in all conditions. Sensitivity to the surrounding environment is channeled into various interpretations of extraordinary works.

The works on display are a form of anxiety and the artists’ response to conditions in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. One of the artists and lecturers at FSRD Usakti, Yosua Reydo Respati, S.Ds., M.Ds, said that one of his works entitled Headless is a form of struggle of our thoughts and feelings during the transition period at the beginning of the pandemic era. “Our minds are everywhere. But our bodies are not going anywhere”

As a series of events, there will also be an online Artist Talk on February 8, 2022. Through this exhibition activity, it is hoped that it can increase the spirit to continue to create in the current situation.
