The Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Trisakti University held an online webinar with the theme “Roots and Us Today” on Friday, 19 November 2021. This event is one of a series of solo exhibitions by Prof. Setiawan Sabana, MFA with the title “The Book of the Paper Universe in Reflections”, which was held in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Culture – National Gallery of Indonesia – ITB – Art Garage Gallery 10 Bandung.

In his opening, Prof. Setiawan Sabana, MFA said that technological change and progress is unavoidable, but we as a society and nation need to have strong traditional roots in order to remain adaptive and survive in the global movement.

Furthermore, the speakers presented the material, namely:

Dr. Sangayu Ketut Laksemi Nilotama, M.Ds (Dean of FSRD USAKTI) with the title “Speaking Culture of Knowledge Sources and Local Identity”

Drs. Dikdik Adikara Rachman, MA (Head of Center for Visual Design & Environmental Engineering, USAKTI FSRD) with the title “Local Challenges in the 21st Century: Notes from the Field”

Universities have a role to continue to voice the importance of tradition to become national identity, and how tradition is transmitted in the current rapid changes in technology and media. Through this webinar, it is hoped that the thoughts and concerns of academics, especially regarding tradition as the identity of the Indonesian nation, can continue to strengthen and develop.
